Improper Lane Change Traffic Ticket

The penalty for a traffic ticket for an improper lane change:

  • Two or Three demerit points
  • A fine of one hundred and ten dollars ($110.00)
  • A conviction registered on your driving record for three years
  • determination of fault where an accident has occurred
  • Possible insurance increases

Usually an improper lane change ticket is a result of a traffic accident or a police officer has observed an improper or unsafe movement from the driver.

If an accident has occurred, paying the traffic ticket means that you are accepting fault in the incident, and the insurance company will put two strikes against the driver, one for being "At Fault" in the accident, and secondly for receiving a traffic ticket.
