Class G2 Drivers

Class G2 drivers in addition to obeying the rules of the road must;

• not use a cell phone 
• have a “zero” blood alcohol level
• ensure all occupants wear seatbelts
• no more than one person in vehicle under the age of 20 years, if driving between 12:00am – 5:00am (for individuals that have held their G2 for less than 6 months)
• no more than three persons in vehicle under the age of 20 years, if driving between 12:00am – 5:00am (for individuals that have held their G2 for 6 months or longer)

As well any conviction with four (4) demerit points will result in a thirty (30) day licence suspension, or an accumulation of nine (9) demerit points will result in a sixty (60) day licence suspension.

As well as any fine associated with a traffic ticket, class G2 licence holders are suspended for any traffic ticket with four (4) or more demerit points, including:

• Speeding for thirty (30) kilometres or more than the speed limit
• Following Too Closely
• Careless Driving
• Fail to Remain at the Scene of an Accident
• Stunt Driving

G2 Drivers who are convicted of the following offences face a thirty (30) day suspension

• Driving while using a cell phone
• Driving while blood alcohol level is over zero

Demerit points are added to the driver’s licence only after the driver is convicted at court or they pay the ticket.
