A medical drivers licence suspension means that the Ministry of Transportation has received information that the driver’s ability to safely drive a motor vehicle may be in question.
This can be a result of;
- a medical issue, heart condition, cognitive impairment,
- substance/alcohol abuse issue
- any other medical issue that may interfere with the driver’s ability to safety drive a motor vehicle.
Under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario physicians, optometrists and medical professionals are required by law to report any driver who may be suffering from a medical or physical condition that may impair the driver’s ability to safely drive.
